GRENZLAND

‘Ne touchez pas ma terre c'est ma terre’ sets boundaries that are necessary for a personal identity. In the field of tension between personal pride and the feeling of having lost everything, five dancers and four musicians work through their inner turmoil and anger in violent physical confrontations.

The international artists involved in this project are strangers in the place where they currently live. What makes them foreign is obvious: their origins. What makes them remain foreign is more difficult: their current living conditions.

In her new production GRENZLAND, Karolin Stächele sharpens the way we look at other cultures and problematises common notions of cultural superiority. The project aims to set the space between stigmatisation and enrichment, between exclusion and appropriation directly ‘in motion’. New perspectives are opened up to the audience: ‘White is not the same as white and black is not the same as black’.
